Auxiliary Nurse and Midwifery (ANM)

This is a 2 years training program for young girls. They are trained in nursing and midwifery to assist a staff nurse in a hospital or to work with the people in the community in providing primary health care. Class room teaching in the School and practical teaching in the hospital as well as in the health centers are given to students.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The age for admission shall be 17-35 years on the year in which admission is sought.
  • The minimum educational requirements shall be 10 + 2 in Arts (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, and Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Science or Health care Science - Vocational stream ONLY passing out from recognized Board.
  • Student shall be medically fit.
  • Students qualified in 10+2 Arts or Science examination conducted by National Institute of Open School.
  • Student shall be admitted once in a year.

Number of seats available:

10 students are admitted each year.

Admission:

The session usually starts in October every year. Students need to appear for a Pre Nursing Test, usually held in July each year. All qualified students are called for interview, and once selected; they are admitted for the training. The dates shall be mentioned in the prospectus.

Examinations:

Annual Board examinations are held in each year.

Certificate:

After passing out the 2nd year Board examination, a student shall be eligible to receive the certificate of ANM. This certificate is registrable in any State Nursing Council of India.
